If dogs could choose their favourite month for lodge life, we have a feeling September would be pretty high on the list.
At Tremfan Lodge Park, we’re proud to be a dog-friendly site, with more than 50% of our owners having a dog. September brings warm days, quieter beaches and more space to enjoy the outdoors, from walks and swims to a well-earned lunch.
Walk, Sniff, Explore…
Llanbedrog is made for exploring on four legs. Start with Llanbedrog Beach, where the sheltered bay and sandy shore are perfect for a seaside stroll. If your dog enjoys the water, September can still be a lovely time for a paddle or swim.
Don’t forget, until 30 September, dogs must be kept on leads on the main section of Llanbedrog Beach up to the end of the beach huts. Beyond this point, follow the local beach regulations and keep your dog under control.
For a longer adventure, follow the coastal path towards Cerrig y Defaid. This quieter stretch offers wonderful sea views, and from Cerrig y Defaid the route continues towards Pwllheli.
Closer to home, the woodland and grounds around Plas Glyn-y-Weddw offer another lovely place to explore, combining woodland and coastal scenery.
With Tremfan sitting just above Llanbedrog, these walks are part of everyday lodge life. Just grab the lead and head out.
…Walk, Eat, Repeat…
All that walking, sniffing and swimming works up an appetite. At Plas Glyn-y-Weddw Café, dogs are welcome outside. It’s an ideal stop after exploring the woodland, with their exquisite homemade cakes providing a very good reason for the humans to stay too.
Nearby, the Glyn y Weddw Arms welcomes dogs in its outdoor seating area and covered heated patio, with food and drink served all day. Their exceptional carvery Sunday lunch is another good reason to visit.
For breakfast by the beach, Aqua Beach Bar welcomes dogs outside and has outdoor heaters available if it cools down. Check their Facebook page for evening entertainment during your visit.
For something more elegant, our neighbours at Tremfan Hall offer lunch with dogs welcome on the terrace. And for a traditional pub atmosphere, The Ship Inn in Llanbedrog welcomes dogs inside.
…Then Back to Your Own Lodge
After a day of walking, swimming, exploring and lunch, there’s nothing better than heading back to your own lodge. That’s one of the pleasures of lodge ownership at Tremfan. Your lodge is your own place on the Llŷn Peninsula, ready whenever you want to escape. There’s no packing up at the end of a weekend or waiting for your next holiday.
Set within five acres of woodland above Llanbedrog, Tremfan has a peaceful, private feel, with just 20 individual lodges and views towards Llanbedrog Headland, the beach, Pwllheli and across Cardigan Bay. It’s also just 0.5 miles from Llanbedrog Beach and 0.2 miles from the pub, shop and garage.
For dog owners, favourite walks can become familiar ones, local cafés regular stops and the beach somewhere you visit simply because you feel like it. For us, being dog-friendly isn’t simply about allowing dogs on site. It’s about creating a place where they can be part of the lifestyle too.
Walk, sniff, swim, explore, enjoy a leisurely lunch, then come home to your own lodge. We think that’s a pretty good life for a dog. And perhaps an even better one for their owners.
